Position Overview
The Senior Commodity Specialist will take on a leadership role in the overall management of various assigned Supply Chain Management programs/commodities, e.g. fuel, vehicle related parts and service, uniforms, office equipment and supplies, records retention, print and print related services, etc. by working with outside suppliers, internal customers, and across all company business lines. This position will understand the needs of the organization and the technology, equipment, and services available in the market to meet or exceed the requirements of internal customers for the assigned commodities. This position will develop, manage, and maintain complex and high value commodity and supplier strategies while developing and maintaining critical supplier relationships to ensure best-value of products and services and meet on-time delivery expectations. The Senior Commodity Specialist will also serve as a mentor to Commodity Specialist team members in the investigation of new products, equipment, and technology to realize cost savings and process improvements for the company.

Responsibilities
Advise stakeholders on various product and service alternatives to reduce cost, increase quality, and improve productivity
Evaluate potential efficiencies and develop Supply Chain Management implementation strategies for products and services; drive these strategies through to completion
Draft and manage differing RFIs, RFQs & RFPs (RFxs) to provide best total value to end users
Conduct complex total cost financial analysis to determine best value for the operating groups and the organization
Evaluate processes and competitive pricing/bids from outside suppliers
Coordinate processes from conception through delivery of all developed programs
Research new technology, materials, and logistics options for managed commodities
Identify and act on previously unexplored opportunities within assigned commodity
Act as the main liaison between the company and its suppliers for assigned commodities
Act as a liaison between Accounts Payable and assigned suppliers to ensure accurate and timely payment of invoices
Investigate the integrity, capabilities, capacity, etc. of suppliers being utilized/considered
Provide direction to suppliers relative to expectations regarding product/service acceptability
Initiate, implement, and support the supplier diversity program to align with company values and ensure supply base compliance
Identify and prioritize commodities/programs for sustainability efforts and recommend strategies for proactively addressing relevant issues – expert at getting things done through people
Negotiate, implement, and manage multiple high profile, complex national and global programs
Develop and manage relationships with key / strategic suppliers and customers
Strategically negotiate and draft national service, pricing, and confidentiality agreements, amendments, and addendums
Design and maintain various model types to measure supplier quality, performance, and/or compliance with high profile national agreements
Partner with corporate departments, all levels of management, group personnel, etc., to advance commodity programs and meet company/department goals
Conduct complex supplier assessment visits as necessary
Manage, design, and modify responsible sections of the Supply Chain Management website

Qualifications
Minimum:
Must have a Bachelor's Degree in: Business, Marketing, or Supply Chain Management (preferred)
Must have a purchasing certification (CPM, CPSM, APICS, etc.) or similar certification
Five or more (5+) years of direct Supply Chain Management experience preferred
Must have Intermediate or above working knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoint
Must be authorized to work in the United States and not require work authorization sponsorship by our company for this position now or in the future
Relevant Experience Includes:
