We have an exciting opportunity for a Lead Software Engineer (Front-end) in the Rate Management department. The Rate Management department is responsible for a suite of applications that range from the new modernized Pricing Maintenance application to Revenue Management products such as Big Data and PRISM, along with our Rate Strategy application. Together, they give EHI our competitive pricing edge in the Rental Car industry.

As a Lead Engineer (Engineer 3) you will design, develop, and modify many different elements of technology within the Pricing Maintenance domain. You will be required to understand advanced methods, theories and research techniques that establish ongoing direction and implementation of the technology vision and strategy. The Lead Engineer (Engineer 3) will be expected to serve as a subject matter expert in multiple areas of technology that will represent the team in a positive manner within and outside of your department. You will be leading implementations and providing viable recommendations for implementing new solutions. You will be providing instruction and guidance to less senior team members on new tasks and assignments; ensuring deadlines are met. You will be responsible for designing, modifying, and developing complex code independently within or outside various teams using applicable technology. You will be responsible for driving standards, ensuring code performance, contributing to code reviews, and performing unit and integration testing. You will also assist with the analysis and review of software requirements. In addition, you will be expected to mentor less senior team members to help them to develop and advance their own career.

  • Must be presently authorized to work in the U.S. without a requirement for work authorization sponsorship by our company for this position now or in the future

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, or related field

  • 5+ years of Software Development Experience, 2+ acting in mentor/lead capacity

  • 5+ years of Front-End (UI) Development Experience including JavaScript, Typescript, CSS3, HTML5, Responsive

  • 2+ years of React JS development experience architecting highly complex enterprise systems

  • Experience developing and maintaining reusable React UI components

  • Strong understanding of Design Systems and UX Design principles

  • Experience with AWS or other Public Cloud environments

  • Experience in the full software development lifecycle and end-to-end testing.

  • Experience with JIRA, Confluence, and/or similar tool

  • Experience with agile development methodologies and tools such as Scrum or Kanban

  • Experience with Git-based source control management system (Bitbucket preferred)

  • Strong teamwork abilities in a collaborative environment

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills

  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, high demand, and challenging environment

  • Must possess initiative, results-oriented drive and a solid work ethic requiring minimal direction.

  • Must be flexible in the face of changing priorities and requirements

  • Must be committed to incorporating security into all decisions and daily job responsibilities

Preferred :

  • Experience with RESTful APIs

  • Experience with using styling frameworks (bootstrap, Material UI, etc)

  • Java development experience

  • Experience with Java Spring framework

  • Experience with Open API and Kong Gateway

  • Experience with Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress, etc.

  • Experience with Jenkins
