Enterprise Holdings Payroll Manager in St. Louis, Missouri

The St. Louis Contact Center Payroll Department for Enterprise Holdings EAN Services LLC currently has an excellent opportunity for a Payroll Manager. This position will manage a team of employees involved with the payroll processing, accounting and reporting functions for over 2,000 employees working in multiple states. The position is primarily responsible for payroll team development, producing timely and accurate payrolls and related reporting as well as the implementation and maintenance of effective payroll methods and procedures.

The schedule for this position requires 45-50 hours per week, with flexibility based on business need.

  • Supervise assigned payroll personnel (e.g. interviewing, training, evaluating, etc.) for the purpose of enhancing productivity of staff, and ensuring that department outcomes are achieved

  • Oversees workload of department for the purpose of maximizing the efficiency of the work force and meeting operational requirements

  • Maintains a wide variety of payroll information, files and records in written and electronic formats for the purpose of providing an up-to-date reference and audit trail for compliance

  • Plan, manage and coordinate resources needed for regular payroll processing and reporting, balance sheet schedule preparation, and ad hoc work assignments

  • Review others’ work to ensure compliance with policies and procedures

  • Review existing department procedures and implement enhancements, as needed

  • Respond to employee and management questions regarding all aspects of payroll

  • Manage fiscal and calendar year-end payroll processes

  • Review and approve payroll journal entries

  • Manage the storage and retention of required payroll documentation

  • Monitors assigned payroll activities and/or program components for the purpose of ensuring effective department functioning, coordinating activities and ensuring compliance with established financial, legal and/or administrative requirements

  • Facilitates meetings for the purpose of identifying appropriate actions, developing recommendations and supporting other staff. Attends meetings for the purpose of conveying and/or receiving information required to perform functions

  • Performs other related duties and special projects, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment

  • Bachelor’s degree required (degree in accounting, business or finance preferred)

  • Minimum of seven years payroll or related experience preferred

  • Minimum of three years supervisory experience required

  • Multi-state payroll processing experience preferred

  • Payroll certification preferred

  • At least an intermediate working knowledge and understanding of the functionality, processes and procedures of Payroll systems (i.e. Workbrain, ProBusiness, PeopleSoft); advanced knowledge preferred

  • Strong knowledge of applicable Federal and State garnishment and tax laws

  • Understanding of professional accounting concepts and practices

  • Intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and database applications (advanced level preferred)

  • Must be willing and able to travel for team meetings and required trainings

  • Must have a valid driver's license with no more than 2 moving violations and/or at fault accidents in the past 3 years

  • No drug or alcohol related convictions on your record in the past 5 years (i.e., DUI, DWI)

  • Able to work 45-50 hours per week, with flexibility based on business need
