Responsibilities

As an Engineer 2, you will be responsible for collaborating with management, departments and customers to identify end-user requirements and specifications for performance monitoring and event management. You will be required to listen to and evaluate customer needs to determine and provide high quality solutions that align with customer expectations. This will involve developing monitoring solutions, automating workflows and using your technical knowledge of professional concepts to solve business problems. You will be responsible for evaluating elements of technology’s effectiveness through requirements gathering, testing, research and investigation and make recommendations for improvements that result in increased quality and effectiveness.

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, analyzing, and documenting SAN/NAS/Object technologies. The position will be required to work closely with business partners and vendors, as well as peer EHI technical teams to design, manage, and integrate technical solutions depended upon by a dynamic customer base. An emphasis is placed on delivering highly scalable, innovative, cost effective, and high performing storage offerings. In support of delivering and measuring our world class storage offerings performance management is critically important and will be area of focus and growth. In this role you will have the ability to:

  • Respond quickly and effectively to storage failures and incidents, ensuring that customer data is protected, and correcting root cause to prevent future occurrences

  • Participate in projects to deploy, expand, and update the storage technology infrastructure

  • Adhere closely to Change Management policies and processes

  • Create and maintain operational documentation

  • Work with peer technology teams and customers to provision and configure storage

  • Work with other team members to continuously improve services, streamline internal processes, and maximize infrastructure effectiveness

  • Allocate block storage to new and existing hosts

  • Configure storage zones on Cisco SAN switches

  • Allocate and manage CIFS and NFS file systems on a NAS device

  • Troubleshoot issues with Block, SAN, and NAS automation requests

  • Troubleshoot Block, SAN, and NAS issues initiated by monitoring events or customers

  • Contribute to on-call rotation and complete afterhours changes following ITIL standards

  • Estimated to be once every seven weeks

  • Assist in automation conversion from custom scripting to API, Ansible and Terraform automation

  • Assist in dashboard creation and improvement within Splunk

Qualifications

Required:

  • Must be presently authorized to work in the U.S. without a requirement for work authorization sponsorship by our company for this position now or in the future

  • 3 or more years of combined infrastructure engineering experience

  • Extensive experience with Storage and Backup technologies

  • Professional experience with NAS, SAN, and Object Storage Technologies such as (but not limited to):

  • Dell\EMC PowerMax and\or VMAX block arrays

  • Dell\EMC Isilon NAS platforms

  • Cisco SAN switches and DCNM

  • Prior experience automating storage requests

  • Experience with services automation using Ansible, APIs and Terraform

  • Experience creating dashboards and reports using Splunk

  • Proficiency with scripting languages such as Perl, Python or similar

  • General understanding of host operating systems such as Windows 2012, 2016, 2019

  • General understanding of host operating systems such as AIX and Red Hat Linux

  • Familiarity with ITIL concepts and best practices

  • Must be committed to incorporating security into all decisions and daily job responsibilities

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, or related field preferred

  • Experience with Atlassian Jira and Confluence
